The 11th Cambodian Book Fair 2024 began on Thursday, December 19, and runs for four days at Koh Pich, featuring nearly 300 book stands and a wide variety of books for display and sale, catering to visitors of all ages.
In addition to the book displays, visitors will receive free copies of Cambodia’s First Lady book.
Chhay Sophal, the author of books on Cambodian leaders, announced that approximately 10,000 copies of his newly released book would be distributed free to attendees at the Cambodian Book Fair. The book, titled “Pich Chanmony, Wife of the 37th Prime Minister of Cambodia”, highlights the extraordinary accomplishments of Cambodia’s First Lady.
Key features of the book include: Chanmony is the first First Lady of Cambodia to learn a doctorate and she graduated from high school at the age of 15, then went on to study at the University of Health Sciences, where she ranked first before continuing her studies to learn a doctorate.
Sophal explained that “Chanmony” is her third name, chosen after she frequently became ill with her previous names, leading her to adopt the name “Chanmony.”
He added that this book is intended to inspire young people, especially women, to pursue education abroad and to work diligently from a young age. It offers valuable lessons on the importance of hard work, perseverance, and the pursuit of knowledge.
