CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The finalists have been named for Deck the County: Holiday Business Showdown! as part of the Clarksville Now Christmas in Clarksville lights contest.
The five finalists are:
- Appleton Harley-Davidson
- Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation
- Dunn Electrical Service
- F&M Bank
- Waterdogs SCUBA and Safety
Now, it’s up to you! Go to the Montgomery County Government Facebook page to vote for your favorite to determine the winner. The winner will be announced live at the Montgomery County New Year’s Eve Party at Downtown Commons on Dec. 31.
The Deck the County business lights contest is new this year, and it came at the urging of Cailynn Runyon, the 15-year-old daughter of Montgomery County Register of Deeds Julie Runyon.
“I love Christmas lights, and we were driving around and there weren’t many lights up,” Cailynn told Clarksville Now. “I said, ‘If you didn’t know what time of year it was, you wouldn’t know it’s Christmas,’” she said.
Her father, Ray Runyon, always tells her that if she wanted to see change, she should be the change. So she wrote a letter to Mayor Wes Golden suggesting the county do something to get more people to decorate for Christmas, and that became the new Deck the County business lights contest.
The Christmas in Clarksville residential lights contest continues through Dec. 27, if you’d like weigh in on that one as well.
Check out the lights!
If you have an amazing lights display to share – your house, or even someone else’s – you should still share it for the community to enjoy! Take a night-time photo of the fully decorated house and post it to Christmas in Clarksville. Or, you can email your photo, address and display description to [email protected] with “Christmas Lights” in the subject field.
And if you’re ready to take a drive around town to see the finalists, go to Christmas in Clarksville for the interactive map, guiding you to the proudest light displays in town.
