‘Time traveller’ claims he was from 1932 and went to 2050 – and then vanished

We’ve all fantasised about owning a time machine, travelling back to see the dinosaurs or zooming thousands of years into the future.

However, one man, Sergei Ponomarenko, claims to have already achieved this feat. Over the years, many have claimed to have journeyed through time, but none have a story quite as intriguing as Ponomarenko’s. In 2006, the world was stunned when the Ukrainian man appeared in Kyiv, insisting to authorities that he was from 1932.

While many would immediately dismiss him as mad or deceitful, his evidence was surprisingly persuasive. Dressed in outdated clothing and sporting an old-fashioned camera, he certainly looked the part.

But the most compelling proof was a Soviet document from the 1950s, which he said proved he was 25. This caused some heads to turn, though many remained sceptical.

The game-changer came when Ponomarenko produced his camera, claiming to have taken photos in the 1950s. Astonishingly, upon developing these photos, authorities confirmed they were indeed from that era, showing him with an unidentified woman and what he claimed was a UFO. Allegedly, after taking the photo, he was transported to the future.

The mystery deepened when authorities discovered that a man with the same name had vanished in 1958. They managed to locate his girlfriend, who was in her 70s at the time and shockingly, she was the woman in the photos.

She revealed that her boyfriend had disappeared for a few days before returning and then disappearing again in the 70s. She even had a photo of him as an older man, allegedly taken in 2050.

After consulting a doctor, it seemed that his story might actually be true, particularly when he vanished overnight without leaving any trace. According to Albert Einstein’s theories, what he claimed could theoretically be possible.

However, a YouTuber has delved deeper into the case than anyone else. He believes he’s found a flaw in the story.

But has he really solved the mystery?

Joe Scott claims that the pictures were taken from a Ukrainian TV show called Aliens, which explores the possibility of extraterrestrial life. He also suggests that the picture from the 70s features photoshopped architecture and even includes the Empire State Building.

However, he couldn’t find any information on crime reports or doctor interviews, leaving the mystery still unsolved.
