Garrett Hedlund is mostly known for three films, which are ‘Troy,’ ‘Tron: Legacy’ and ‘Triple Frontier.’ And each of these is a benchmark in his filmography that spans across two decades. He was even approached by Marvel to play Captain America, a role he passed on due to a scheduling conflict with ‘Tron: Legacy.’ Well, who knows how things could have turned out if he did the part that is now owned by Chris Evans.
Hedlund’s other works include ‘Four Brothers,’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis,’ ‘Mudbound’ (for which he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination), ‘Unbroken,’ ‘Friday Night Lights,’ ‘Death Sentence,’ ‘Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk,’ and ‘Country Strong.’ He can also be seen in the shows ‘Mosaic,’ ‘Modern Love,’ and ‘Tulsa King.’ If you are intrigued about the actor’s future, here is a list of the actor’s upcoming projects!
1. Criminal (2025)
‘Criminal’ is an upcoming 8-episode crime series directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (at least the first four episodes) for Amazon Prime Video. Showrun by Ed Brubaker and Jordan Harper, the series is based on the award-winning graphic novel series by Brubaker and Sean Phillips. The story follows Leo (Charlie Hunnam), a master thief who thinks three steps ahead, but he doesn’t apply the use of guns and violence. Other thieves consider him a coward for this, especially since his father, Tommy, was sent to prison for murdering Teeg Lawless, the most feared man in the city. Joining Hunnam are Hedlund, Emilia Clarke, Adria Arjona, Luke Evans, John Hawkes, Richard Jenkins, and Michael Mando. The series has completed post-production and its first episode will drop on March 1, 2025.
2. JonBenét Ramsey (TBA)
Filming is ongoing for the Paramount+ limited murder mystery series ‘JonBenét Ramsey.’ The 8-episode drama will revolve around the horrific unsolved murder of 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey, who hailed from Boulder, Colorado. The little girl went missing on December 26, 1996, and her lifeless body was found in the basement of her own home later the same day. Melissa McCarthy and Clive Owen will play JonBenét’s parents, and the series will follow the Ramsey family before and after the tragedy as they go through the loss of a child while facing intense public scrutiny caused by the media that broadcasted it to the whole country. Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach are the creators and writers of the series, with Richard LaGravenese on board as the showrunner. The rest of the cast includes Emily Mitchell (as JonBenét), Hedlund, Alison Pill, Jaime Ray Newman, Will Patton, Owen Teague, and Shea Whigham. ‘JonBenét Ramsey’ is yet to get a release date.
3. Tulsa King Season 3 (TBA)
Paramount+ has renewed the crime drama series ‘Tulsa King’ for the third season. Terence Winter will return as the showrunner, and Craig Zisk will return as the head director. Season 2 concluded with Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight Manfredi being picked up by the FBI, who wanted him to work for them. So, we will most likely see Manfredi feeding the FBI intel about Frank Grillo’s Bill Bevilaqua in Season 3. Alongside Stallone, the cast members expected to return include Hedlund as Mitch, Jay Will as Tyson, Martin Starr as Bodhi, Chris Caldovino as Goodie, Max Casella as Armand, Dana Delany as Margaret, Vincent Piazza as Vince, Tatiana Zappardino as Tina, Annabella Sciorra as Joanne, and Michael Beach as Mark. The actor playing the shadowy FBI agent we see speaking to Mandredi has yet to be revealed. Filming of Season 3 is slated to take place in Atlanta, Georgia, in the spring of 2025. A release date for the same is awaited.
4. Barron’s Cove (TBA)
‘Barron’s Cove’ is a crime thriller movie that looks at the bond between a father and a son from two different perspectives. When the young son of Caleb, a man who has a dark past, is murdered, his urge for the truth makes him kidnap the kid he believes is responsible. This in turn sparks a manhunt propelled by the kidnapped boy’s father who, as it turns out, is a powerful politician. On one hand, we have a father who will stop at nothing to find out the reason for his son’s death. On the other hand, we have a father who will not rest until he gets his son back safely. One truth shall decide what’s in store for the two men.
The movie is both written and directed by Evan Ari Kelman.
