VINCENNES — Magnolias on Main officially opened its doors for business Friday morning, adding a new spot to stop and shop along Main Street.
Kathryn Herman, owner of Magnolias on Main, shared she was excited to be able to open up the business on Main Street, taking over the location that was once Pretty Posies, a floral and gift shop that has now transitioned to focus on event designs.
Herman said that she had worked at Pretty Posies throughout her high school and college years, and when the opportunity to open up her own shop working with floral arrangements and more, she was ready.
“It’s kind of like a second home,” said Herman about working in the shops. “ I just love working here. I love working with floral and I just love being able to be creative.
I always loved working on Main Street, just the community on Main Street I think is great,” Herman said. “If you walk down the street and talk to any of the business owners, everyone’s so nice.”
Herman highlighted her favorite part of the job is being able to work with fresh flowers where they get deliveries every week, and make arrangements for anyone needing a pop of color added to their wedding, funeral, home, etc.
Herman added she enjoyed being able to work on funeral floral arrangements for families during her time at Pretty Posies, and will continue to do so to help those during times of grieving, “to make that time as easy and as stress free as possible for the family.”
Alongside floral arrangements, Magnolias on Main has other items to offer, such as home decor, accessories, purses, soaps, lotions, rosaries and more. Many religious items can be found in the shop as home decor and more, where Herman shared that, “I like to be able to be creative and then tie God into my full time area.”
Located at 315 Main St., Magnolias on Main is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and closed on Sunday. For more information on Magnolias on Main, call 812-316-0770.
