He’s the man who charmed audiences in The Notebook, brought tears in La La Land and entertained us all in Barbie. However, it seems a key moment from his early acting days has slipped the collective memory.
TikTok is packed with people who have been shocked to discover Gosling’s role in a celebrated film from the noughties. Back then, he portrayed Alan Bosley in Remember The Titans, but this seems to have been forgotten.
This film tells the tale of a Virginia high school football team’s path to integration in 1971, and underscores how sport can bridge divides and encourage togetherness. It’s all inspired by true events.

These videos spotlighting Gosling’s performance as Alan have taken fans by complete surprise, amassing loads of views on social media. Some viewers confess they’ve not even watched the film before.
One user exclaimed: “Why did I not know Ryan Gosling was this guy in Remember the Titans?” Another confessed: “Finally, someone who likes Remember the Titans.”
A third replied: “Oh my gosh. That’s actually crazy because I watched this movie in school and always thought he was cute.”
Meanwhile, someone else commented: “I was today years old when I found out Ryan Gosling was in this movie.”

Gosling, now 44, looks incredibly youthful in throwback clips from the film. He secured the part after his roles in “Young Hercules” and “Breaker High” during the late ’90s. This was a period when he was beginning to establish himself as an up-and-coming actor.
Before his appearance in Remember the Titans, Gosling’s career primarily composed of guest appearances, recurring characters or lead roles in TV series and television movies. Remember the Titans was only his second gig in a major motion picture, following his 1996 performance in “Frankenstein and Me”.
Gosling’s character, Alan Bosley, was one of the white students from the previously segregated T.C. Williams High School.
