CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — There’s a new vending machine at Sinton Elementary School, but this one doesn’t take cash.
The new “Book Nook Vending Machine” accepts academic achievements!
Students who receive special tokens for hard work and good behavior can pay a visit to the machine filled with books of all kinds.
Superintendent Andy Redock told 3NEWS the new addition has been generating some excitement by some eager readers!
“I think they’ve seen it in the hallway, it’s all that wonder and that anticipation,” he said. “It’s always fun to build up to something and that to have it come to fruition and be able to enjoy it, especially all together as a group was really nice to see.”
“Anything that we can do as a school and especially as a school community to reinforce reading and literacy within our youth and our kiddos, it’s just gonna do nothing but benefit them throughout life,” Redock added.
The machine was donated by the elementary school’s Parent-Teacher Organization, those funds made available through successful book fairs the library runs twice a year.
