SPARTA, Wis. (WEAU) – Nearly a decade ago, the city of Sparta bought nearly 200 acres of land on the city’s south side to create the South Pointe Business Park. The city made plans for this after seeing the success of another business park on the city’s east side.
“That business park has since filled. We filled it up about a year ago, but it was ninety percent filled for the last seven or eight years. We needed to identify an area to grow our commercial development,” says Sparta director of community development Todd Fahning.
A business park is a designated area of land where many businesses are grouped together.
Fahning says the business parks have helped small businesses in the past and they are looking for more.
“It also brings tons of people into town that normally probably never would’ve been here, traveling on the interstate and getting a good look at Sparta. I think getting us on the map definitely helps some of our smaller businesses,” says Fahning.
One of those smaller businesses that is in the business park is MAX Building Solutions, who moved to the business park to obtain a better business location and to have more space for their building.
“It’s visible form the main highway, right off the interstate. Suppliers that bring us stuff can come right here. It’ provides a little more exposure out here in the business park. New construction shows us off a little bit better as we try to expand out business,” says MAX Building Solutions sales and marketing assistant J. Wells.
The business park already has eight lots that have been sold, including a future strip mall and Circle K.
The business park currently has 91.9 acres of land available.
Any businesses interested in purchasing land at the business park can visit here, or call Sparta City Hall at (608) 269-4340.
The bought land was originally farm land. It was bought by the city for around $10 million.
