PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – The Rubi’s Pizza & Grill in Parkersburg have been working on running their local business as they go through the weekend.
Martha Cerqueda, the wife of the owner of Rubi’s, said they had to close on Monday, but still pushed through to remain open for the rest of the week.
“We have to remain close because a lot of our employees were not able to make it here, and so we decided not to open,” Cerquada said. “Since Tuesday, we’ve been open, and we’ll just try to do the best to what we have.”
Asia Graham, an employee at Rubi’s, said so far this week business has remained a little slow, but picked up a little on Friday.
“I think the first few days of the week it was really, really slow,” Graham said. “Yesterday it did pick up a little bit, but other than that the week has been very slow.”
Cerqueda adds that the restaurant could close early if the problem becomes serious enough, but they are determined to stay open and hoping people come out and support them once the weather clears.
“I think we’re just getting used to it and coping with that,” Cerqueda said. “Hopefully, our customers know that we’re still open, and we get a little bit busier.”
