Holidaymakers have been warned about a popular Spanish report with some saying they won’t be coming back. Harry Tokky shares regular videos on YouTube and social media from Benidorm, one of the most popular Spanish resoprts for UK tourists.
In a recent video Harry says he ‘amost lost his phone’ after hitting a street in the resort known as ‘Muggers’ Alley’ Harry has claimed holidaymakers risk their trips being spoiled by pickpockets in Muggers’ Alley. He said that the path between a block of flats and a police station off Calle Verona, in sight of the popular Morgan’s Tavern, is risky, reports BirminghamLive.
Harry described it as ‘the notorious area where people get robbed’. He adede: “I have heard that a lot of people get done here.”
Harry urged people to “be careful” when walking down the alley late at night and to “stay safe”. Commenters agreed with Harry and advised how to stay safe, with one saying: “Walk round where the bins are, cross the road and you’ll be fine, believe me.”
He added in his caption that the muggers supposedly “don’t bother women, only drunk males”. Another said: “I’ve stayed in the hotel beside it and seen plenty of muggings from the window.” The social media user added: “It’s notorious for it.”
Another said: “Road near Buddies [bar] too at top of square. Path to Tiki Beach at night and Yellow Brick Road at night. After midnight [the] beach [is] not safe.” And a fellow holidaymaker wrote back to say: “Been like that for years in that spot.”
“Every night between 12am and 5am in the morning they sit outside KFC opposite Rockeys bar in Ave Gerona in the busy area. They wait for English tourists to walk by after a few drinks,” another wrote. “The police seemed to be aware of the group but due to so many English tourists not wanting the hassle and not reporting it. The following night we saw them again and they ran off in the same street. Four other English men that saw them run said they had had the same happen to them,” another typed.
Another said: “The vendors that try and get you in the pubs too are an absolute nuisance. No rush to go back.” Another said: “And that’s why I won’t be back.” Another typed: “We saw a drunk bloke – she grabbed him started kissing him then took stuff out his back pockets then walked off. We said you just been robbed he said yeh wallets gone and phone.”
And another said: “When I arrived last week in the afternoon, some women had her hand in my bag as I was getting my case off coach.” Another typed: “We have just spent a week in Benidorm, we enjoyed it.The setback was the increase in the number of beggars and tricksters on the streets. The conmen with the three cups and a pea are all over the place, the beggars can seem rather menacing to people alone.”
