Travel between Khandauli and Aligarh is about to get much easier and faster with the upcoming Aligarh Expressway. Spanning 65 km and costing Rs 1,620 crore, the four-lane expressway will reduce travel time to just one hour. It will directly connect to the Yamuna Expressway, offering a seamless journey for commuters.
The expressway will also serve as an alternative route for residents of Aligarh and Hathras travelling to Jewar Airport. Additionally, it will link the Aligarh Defense Corridor with the Khandauli Yamuna Expressway.
According to reports, the expressway will initially have four lanes, with the potential to expand to six lanes in the future. Construction is set to begin in June and is expected to be completed within two years. A total of 390 hectares of land is being acquired for the project.
The first stretch, 28 km long, will connect National Highway 91 in Aligarh to Asroi Hathras. Costing Rs 800 crore, this section will be built by KRC Company, Faridabad. Contracts with the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) are expected to be signed within a month, and work will start in June.
The second stretch, 37 km long, will connect Asroi Hathras to the Khandauli Yamuna Expressway at a cost of Rs 820 crore. JSP Project Pvt Ltd, Ghaziabad, has been awarded the contract. Soil testing will begin in May, with construction starting in June.
According to reports, the expressway will feature one rail overbridge, three flyovers, and 55 underpasses, ensuring smooth traffic flow. Once completed, the Aligarh Expressway will revolutionise travel and contribute to the region’s rapid growth.
