VIBE is brought to you in partnership with the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre.
At the Victoria International Airport, art isn’t just decoration — it’s an immersive experience.
In collaboration with the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the airport hosts a rotating display of local artwork, offering a unique platform for artists and enriching the environment for travellers.
The program, running for over 15 years, draws exclusively from the gallery’s sales and rental program, making it easy for emerging and established artists to participate. This accessibility has been a game-changer for artists like Victoria’s Candis Zimmerman.
“It’s not easy to get into galleries,” she shares, “but this program has connected me with clients and led to amazing sales.”
One of her paintings sold immediately after being hung at the airport.

Travellers also reap the benefits. Amid the hustle of travel, the displays provide a moment of calm and cultural reflection.
“It’s comforting,” Zimmerman notes, “to stop and pause or reflect on something that catches your eye.” Passengers agree, with many appreciating the opportunity to experience art in a non-traditional space.
Adding to its appeal, the program offers art rentals, allowing clients to try pieces in their homes before purchasing. This innovative feature makes art more accessible to buyers.
With thousands of daily travellers passing by, this initiative continues to support local artists while offering travellers a cultural touchpoint — a true win-win for all.
