Marvel’s first theatrical outing of the year hits theaters next month when Captain America: Brave New Worldboldly stomps into the box office on Valentine’s Day, led by Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson, aka. Captain America.
But this adventure for the popular superhero is set to be slightly shorter because, for the first time, a Captain America film will be under two hours, with the reported runtime for Captain America: Brave New World reported to be 1 hour and 58 minutes, as per the AMC listings for the film.
This is Anthony Mackie’s first time leading a Captain America movie, and so we’re just learning about the character, who, in this outing, will find himself on a mission to discover the motive behind a nefarious international crisis.
That’s a tall order for a film running shorter than the previous Chris Evans-led films. It’s also curious because IMDb still maintains that the film’s runtime is 2 hours and 15 minutes, the same as Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Nonetheless, the film will be hitting movie theaters on February 14, 2025, and people will be lining up to see what’s next in the MCU, the last chapter of which was in the $1.3 billion grossing Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman.
Captain America: Brave New World will be directed by Julius Onah, whose most recent feature, Luce, delivered him a Best Director nomination at the Independent Spirit Awards in 2020.
Anthony Mackie is joined by Harrison Ford, Liv Tyler, Rosa Salazar, Giancarlo Esposito, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, Takehiro Hira, Danny Ramirez, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Xosha Roquemore, and Carl Lumbly.
