SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Tourism is vital to many communities like Savannah.
During ‘Welcome to our Community’ WTOC’s Dawn Baker sat down for a one on one interview with the president and CEO of Savannah’s Tourism Leadership Council, Michael Owens.
TLC serves as the leading trade organization for tourism, a community with more than 40,000 employees and an economic impact of over $6 billion in Coastal Georgia. Owens shared the impressive tourism numbers for 2024, but also discussed how crime impacts the number of people who visit the hostess city.
Owens said, “Residents and tourists get concerned when crime goes up. We need to have an honest conversation about crime. The crime goes far beyond the victim that night. ”
