Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that Albania’s tourism transformation in the past decade is akin to a flight that has propelled the country to the highest point of success in the sector.
In a social media post, Rama emphasized the remarkable growth, noting that in 2014, Albania welcomed 3.6 million foreign visitors, mainly in the summer months. By 2024, this number has surged to 11.7 million, marking the country’s shift from a seasonal tourism industry to a year-round sector generating billions of euros for the economy.
Rama highlighted that Albania’s tourism recovery has been highly valued by the World Tourism Organization, which has chosen Albania multiple times as a focal point for global tourism events, making the country a leader in the Tourism Barometer.
Beyond growth in neighboring markets, 2024 has seen significant increases from Western Europe, including Italy, Germany, France, and the UK, alongside a growing influx from more distant markets.
In recent years, Albania has become one of the most visited destinations, attracting tourists excited to explore its rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, from the mountains to the coastline.
