The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has made important decisions to boost tourism, including the permanent appointment of tourism police officers, a significant salary hike, and the launch of development projects for tourist sites.
According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s Press Secretary, a meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority Board was held under the leadership of Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur.
Provincial cabinet members, the Additional Chief Secretary for Planning and Development, and other board members attended the meeting.
Following discussions, the board decided to make tourism police officers permanent employees and increase their monthly salary from Rs. 36,000 to 45,000. The board also decided to provide additional heavy bikes and communication equipment to strengthen the tourism police force.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to identify new tourist destinations, with plans to include at least four new sites in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget. He highlighted the influx of 15 million local and international tourists in the last season and the need to discover more spots.
Additionally, the Chief Minister ordered updates to the Thandiani Integrated Tourism Zone plan and called for the construction of access roads to these zones.
