TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – If your New Year’s resolution involved reading, music or movies, we have just the sale to help you do it.
Even better, it supports Topeka’s local library.
Janel DeLeye, executive for Friends of the Topeka and Shawnee Co. Public Library, visited Eye on NE Kansas with details on their next quarterly book and media sale.
DeLeye said the sale features thousands of books, movies, music and other collectibles at low prices.
The event runs Jan. 17 to 19 at the TSCPL Marvin Auditorium, with the following schedule:
Friday, Jan. 17, 5 to 8 p.m., for Friends of the Library Members Only
Friday night Friends members get first pick of all the sale items. Memberships will be available to purchase at the door. Memberships are $20 for an individual or $30 for a family and are good for one year from the date of purchase. Shoppers should bring their own totes, boxes or luggage to carry home their bargains.
Saturday, Jan. 18, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Public Book and Media Sale
Admission is free on Saturday. Books will be sorted by genres. Shoppers should bring their own totes, boxes or luggage to carry home their bargains.
Sunday, Jan. 19, noon to 3 p.m. — Bag Day
People can fill a grocery bag that will be provided with books, movies and music for $10.
Since 1971 the Friends have provided more than $2 million to the library.
Friends support the library through three-day book and media sales held four times a year; book and gift sales at the Chandler Booktique; and an online book store of rare and collectible items.
The Friends is a membership organization of individuals who support the library. Members receive newsletters, a discount in the Chandler Booktique, free admission to Friends events and book sales. Memberships are available in the Chandler Booktique or online.
