We’ve got an update to share with you regarding Shawn Levy’s Star Wars movie. Known for his work on Deadpool & Wolverine and The Adam Project, Levy is set to bring a fresh perspective to the galaxy far, far away.
According to insider Daniel Richtman, we may not have to wait much longer to see what his vision will be as production on the untitled film could begin as early as this fall in the UK.Wars?
Levy’s project comes at a time when Lucasfilm is navigating challenges to reinvigorate the franchise, which is now under Dave Filoni’s creative leadership.
With fans eager for strong, fun, and original stories, Levy’s approach could be the fresh addition to the franchise. While plot details are still under wraps, Richtman shared that Daisy Ridley’s Rey Skywalker was originally intended to appear in the film.
However, with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey Skywalker film stalled, Rey’s involvement in Levy’s film remains uncertain.
When speaking about his creative goals, the director talked about his desire to craft a story that avoids redundancy and explores uncharted territory within the Star Wars timeline.
He explained: “There’s only so many times that Star Wars movies can revisit the same section of the timeline. I don’t want to do a Star Wars film that is redundant to others, nor am I interested in doing one that has to serve another movie.”
Levy also shed light on the themes he wants to explore, highlighting the core of what makes Star Wars resonate with fans.
“There is certainly the Force and a connection to something bigger than our individual selves, and the way that that can make us powerful. Those themes, combined with visual delight and wish fulfillment, that’s Star Wars to me.”
Levy has partnered with Jonathan Tropper on the project, his collaborator on The Adam Project, and he seems to have knack for heartfelt storytelling.
The next Star Wars film to be released on the big screen is Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian & Grogu. If this recent rumor is true, Levy’s project will be the Star Wars film to be released after.
