Despite projected freezing temperatures and a chance of snowfall, Lynne Ryan isn’t missing Donald Trump’s second inauguration.
Ryan, the chair of the Lawrence County Republican Committee, will be among at least 12 committee members making a bus trip Monday for the inauguration in Washington, D.C.
“I think he’s going to be much more accomplished. He knows the players. He knows how the game is played,” Ryan said. “I think he’ll hit the ground running.”
Ryan also attended Trump’s first inauguration in 2017.
“It was a blast,” Ryan said.
State Rep. Marla Brown (R-Lawrence) said she will attend.
She believes Trump and his incoming administration will reestablish the United States as a respected global leader with a respectable culture of people.
“I’m looking forward to rebuilding our economy and creating a more affordable cost of living for my constituents,” Brown said.
Brown hopes the administration will recognize Pennsylvania for its mineral assets, opening opportunities for jobs and economic and environmental sustainability.
State Rep. Aaron Bernstine (R-Lawrence/Butler) said he is unable to attend due to prior commitments. A devoted Trump supporter, Bernstine said his inauguration is a “Great day for America” and felt the last four years were difficult for Americans because of things like inflation.
He hopes Trump delivers on his campaign promises to reduce federal regulations, make permanent tax cuts and have the country more respected globally.
In addition to his support of Trump, Bernstine said he has a good working relationship with U.S. Rep Mike Kelly (R-16), and U.S. Sens. John Fetterman, a Democrat, and Dave McCormick, the newly elected Republican, which he believes will help out his district in the long term.
“It’s about putting our district first,” Bernstine said. “I’m looking forward to working collaboratively.”
Kelly, another staunch supporter of Trump, will be attending as well as he begins his eighth term in Congress.
“House Republicans are committed to tackling runaway spending, lowering inflation, securing our borders and restoring American greatness both at home and abroad,” Kelly said. “I look forward to having President Trump and his America First policies back in the White House.”
Ryan said Republicans controlling the House and the Senate will be beneficial to advance Trump’s agenda and strengthen the economy, create energy independence and secure the border.
“I think we’re going to see fast, rapid responses this time,” Ryan said.
Ryan, a North Hill resident, said she’s proud the City of New Castle voted for a Republican president for the first time since 1956.
In the 2024 election, Trump beat Kamala Harris in the city precincts 4,543 to 4,153.
“His message went across all barriers. Everyone wants America to be first,” Ryan said. “It crossed all paths. Everybody has been impacted by the economy.”
