The Ministry of Tourism Development (SEFOTUR) promotes strategies that promote Yucatan as a sustainable destination and preserve natural resources as a source of economy for the regions, such as the cenotes.
The Parador Turístico X’tojil Cuzamá, which has 4 cenotes, completed 9 years of operation, becoming a model of sustainability and commitment to the natural and cultural environment of Yucatan.
In this regard, the regional tourism director of SEFOTUR, Nelda Zapata, highlighted the vision, tireless work, and love that the 25 families of the cooperative’s partners have for these lands, who managed to turn these cenotes into a recognized and appreciated destination for national and international tourists.
She emphasized that the Ministry of Tourism Development directs its actions to ensure that the cenotes of Yucatan and its paradores are synonymous with beauty, tranquility, and excellent service, offering guided walks under the stars and traditional truck tours, in addition to having parking and bathrooms for the attention of visitors.
The State Government promotes training programs that allow those who serve tourism to improve their skills in customer service, responsible management of the environment, and tourism promotion.
The cenotes have an unquestionable importance for the state because they represent a tourist attraction, a source of life, and a legacy of Yucatan’s Mayan roots. Therefore, coordinated work is essential, with the same intensity and dedication to guarantee that they remain clean and protected, to allow future generations to enjoy them as we do today.
