The chairman of the Lycoming County Republican Party Committee says Monday’s Inauguration in Washington, D.C., symbolizes a “new and totally different chapter has opened in America.”
“President-elect Donald Trump, and the administration he brings with him, represent the biggest cultural shift and public awakening in America during my lifetime, and, arguably, in our history,” said Don Peters, chairman of the committee.
Peters said he won’t be in attendance but will be watching.
Peters viewed the Nov. 5 election outcome as a mandate.
“The Biden administration as well as the majority of the Democrat Party have become tone-deaf to the cries of most of the American people on such vital issues as the economy, our national borders, energy independence, and the topic of men in women’s sports and locker rooms, just to name a few,” he said.
“And now, even after the Nov. 5, 2024 election mandate, we were astounded to watch Joe Biden present avowed globalist George Soros with our coveted ‘U.S. Medal of Freedom’, our Nation’s highest civilian Honor – this to a man who openly hates America and proclaims ‘the obstacle to a stable and just world order is the United States.’” “This week’s ceasefire and prisoner release deal between Israel and Hamas demonstrates this inauguration clearly represents the dawning of a new day for the United States and the world. We as Americans, regardless of political affiliation, have much to look forward to in the coming years,” he said.

Eight years ago, a high school band from Lycoming County attended inaugural events.
In 2017, as Trump was sworn into office for his first term, 41 members of the Montgomery Area High School Red Raiders Marching Band attended the Jan. 20 inauguration, as they were chosen to perform along with 15 bands selected across the nation, according to a report by WBRE-TV.
