Travelers interested in exploring Pieria, Central Macedonia, in Greece can now access comprehensive information about its alternative tourism offerings through a newly released tourist guide by the Regional Unit of Pieria and the Pierian Organisation of Tourism Development and Promotion (POTAP).
Available in both Greek and English, the guide showcases the natural beauty of Pieria, home to the Olympian gods and the Pierian muses. It highlights the region’s pristine beaches, historical and archaeological sites, cultural heritage, local products, and gastronomy. The guide also emphasizes the diverse tourism opportunities available, including sports, religious, and nature tourism.
Titled “Pieria: Unique Experiential Experiences Each Season,” the guide was created by Vasilis Dimou, Director of POTAP, and Maria Tsimitri, Head of Tourism for the Pieria Regional Unit. The cover design was done by Spyros Tsiligiridis.
The guide explores the rich history of Mount Olympus and the Pieria Mountains, which are central to the destination’s appeal to international visitors. These mountains, alongside the beautiful beaches, offer a variety of alternative tourism experiences, drawing people from around the world.
According to Sofia Mavridou, Deputy Governor of Pieria, the guide will be distributed at international tourism exhibitions to highlight the region’s offerings and attract travelers seeking memorable, immersive experiences.
“The new tourist guide effectively captures the unique advantages of our region. Pieria is an ideal destination for high-quality, experiential travel, offering a wide range of options year-round,” Mavridou stated.
“Each page of the guide reflects the dynamic nature of the destination, showcasing the enduring creations of its people, the rich historical and religious landscape, the vibrant natural environment, and the many opportunities for alternative tourism,” she added.
