Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government took part in the “ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025” held in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, on January 15-20, 2024, as part of efforts to realize quality tourism.
Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, after the opening ceremony of the forum, stated that Indonesia’s participation in ATF 2025 aims to strengthen collaboration with other ASEAN member countries.
“Indonesia’s involvement in ATF 2025 is an effort to enhance cooperation with ASEAN members and partner countries to promote high-quality tourism,” Minister Wardhana remarked in the ministry’s official statement received here on Sunday.
She explained that the ATF serves as a platform for ASEAN countries to work together in promoting tourism in the region.
This year, ATF carries the theme of “Unity in Motion: Shaping ASEAN’s Tourism Tomorrow.”
“For Indonesia, this forum is a strategic opportunity to enhance our role in the global tourism arena, showcase our natural and cultural heritage, and foster beneficial regional cooperation,” Wardhana explained.
During the ATF 2025, Minister Wardhana began her series of activities by meeting with South Korea’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Yu In Chon.
In this meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen tourism collaboration between the two countries.
Furthermore, Minister Wardhana mentioned that the discussions focused on cooperation under the ASEAN-ROK (Republic of Korea) Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP), which includes several potential tourism collaborations.
The discussions included initiatives for joint tourism promotion, with the aim of increasing public interest in various destinations and attractions in both countries.
On the second and third days of the forum, Minister Wardhana is scheduled to meet with representatives from various countries to discuss programs that aim to advance the tourism and economic sectors in Indonesia and the Southeast Asian region.
