The Sri Lanka Economic Summit (SLES) organised by The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce will host a session focused on ‘Maximising Tourism Potential’, exploring strategies to position Sri Lanka as a leading global destination, on January 29, at Shangri La Hotel, Colombo.
The discussions will focus on how Sri Lanka can achieve the goal of US $ 8.5 billion in tourist earnings by 2030 and factors that can support this goal, including enhancing offerings, improving average tourist spend and implementing policies that will support the sector’s growth.
The session will feature Visa Vice President and Head of Government Engagement for India and South Asia Anand Jha, Tourism Deputy Minister Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Teardrop Hotels CEO Henry Fitch, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts CEO Mikael Svensson and Aitken Spence PLC Joint Deputy Chairman and Managing Director Stasshani Jayawardena and will be moderated by Advocata Institute CEO Dhananath Fernando.
As Sri Lanka aims to amplify its global appeal, this session will highlight the importance of innovative policies and private-public collaboration in achieving sustainable tourism growth. Industry leaders and stakeholders will share perspectives on enhancing Sri Lanka’s tourism product, fostering competitiveness and creating a roadmap to elevate the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
