Stanley 1913 travel mugs are being recalled after an issue with the lids has left multiple people injured.
The Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel, double-walled mugs have lids made of polypropylene which can “can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, causing the lid to detach during use,” the Product Safety recall said.
If the lid comes off while the cup contains hot liquid, as they are designed to do, the consumer is at risk of burns.

“Several incidents have occurred worldwide, including a number of injuries requiring medical attention,” the recall said.
Consumers are urged to stop using the affected products immediately and contact the company for a free replacement lid.
The affected products, made in China, were sold nationally in Australia by authorised retailers between January 1, 2017 and December 31, 2022.
They display the Stanley logo on the front and bottom of the mug, and were sold in a variety of colours including white, black and green.
They were also sold in a number of different sizes: 12 oz, 16 oz and 20 oz.
There are product identification numbers which can help consumers know if their travel mug is impacted by the recall.
On the Switchback model, the 12oz mug will display the product number 20-01437, and the 16oz mug will display the product number 20-01436.
On the TriggerAction model, the 12oz mug will display the product number 20-02033, the 16oz mug will display the product number 20-02030, and the 20oz mug will display the product number 20-02034.
“Replacement lids are expected to become available in early 2025. Stanley will provide further details once available,” Product Safety said.
