AUSTIN—Texas leaders joined together today to congratulate Donald J. Trump on his inauguration as the 47th President of the United States. Governor Greg Abbott, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller expressed their hopes for a renewed era of prosperity and freedom under President Trump’s leadership.
Governor Abbott emphasized the moment’s significance, calling it the beginning of “a new era in our nation—one brimming with promise and hope.”
“As President Trump assumes his responsibilities as America’s chief executive, I am confident that his leadership will restore and strengthen the principles that have long defined our great nation: freedom, economic opportunity, prosperity, and the rule of law,” Abbott said. The Governor pledged to work with the Trump administration on key priorities, including securing the border and ensuring a brighter future for all Americans. He congratulated Vice President JD Vance and their families on this historic occasion.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton also issued a statement applauding President Trump’s inauguration, describing it as a “great day in America.” Paxton expressed optimism for the future, saying the day marks the “triumphant return to the foundational principles that make America great.”
“Together, we will secure our borders, uphold the law, and restore the freedoms that Biden’s unlawful policies sought to undermine,” Paxton said.
Reflecting on his tenure during the Biden administration, Paxton highlighted his extensive legal challenges, which included 106 lawsuits aimed at combating policies he described as unconstitutional. He commended the American people for delivering a clear mandate for change in the 2024 election. He added that Texas is eager to collaborate with the Trump administration to protect constitutional freedoms and rebuild a nation defined by opportunity.
Miller Declares “Independence Day 2.0” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller took a more impassioned tone, likening the day to a renewal of American independence.
“Today, Monday, January 20, 2025, we once again declare our independence from a tyrannical regime that has taxed us, abused us, and denied us our fundamental rights,” Miller said.
In his statement, Miller compared the moment to America’s fight for independence nearly 250 years ago. He emphasized the importance of rejecting the previous administration’s policies and expressed hope for the future under President Trump.
“On November 5, 2024, America did the right thing,” he said, commending the movement to Make America Great Again as a powerful force for renewal. Miller also outlined his national vision, highlighting priorities such as securing the border, ending censorship, and combating woke ideologies in institutions.
“This day of liberation is possible because one man never lost faith in himself or his nation,” Miller concluded, likening Trump’s perseverance to the sacrifices made during historic moments like Valley Forge and D-Day.
The unity of Texas’s top officials reflects a shared optimism for President Trump’s second term. From securing borders to revitalizing American freedoms and economic opportunities, Governor Abbott, Attorney General Paxton, and Commissioner Miller have committed to supporting the new administration’s vision for a stronger, freer nation.
