DODOMA: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has expressed strong satisfaction with the progress of its 2020-2025 election manifesto, particularly in the natural resources and tourism sectors, which have significantly contributed to economic growth and job creation in the country.
In a report presented by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa during the CCM General Meeting in Dodoma, the government’s efforts to enhance and protect tourist attractions such as wildlife reserves, natural forests, cultural heritage sites and beaches have shown positive results.
Tourist arrivals increased from 620,867 in 2020 to 1.9 million by November 2024.
Revenue from the tourism sector also rose from 700 million US dollars in 2020 to an estimated 3.3 billion US dollars by the end of 2024.

This growth reflects the government’s focus on infrastructure development and global marketing strategies.
The globally acclaimed Royal Tour film, featuring President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Amazing Tanzania campaign, targeting Chinese tourists, have helped promote Tanzania as a travel destination.
Initiatives like the appointment of Tourism Goodwill Ambassadors, participation in global expos and strategic roadshows have also contributed to this progress.
Cruise tourism has grown, with cruise ship arrivals increasing from four in 2020 to 37 in 2024, bringing 32,112 tourists to Tanzania.
To support the growing demand, the government has invested in tourism infrastructure, including constructing five new gates to national parks and reserves, developing 97 kilometres of roads and creating 190.5 kilometres of walking trails across 11 forest reserves.
These efforts highlight CCM’s commitment to sustainable development, creating economic opportunities for local communities while positioning Tanzania as a top tourism destination in Africa.
