On Monday, January 20, 2025, Donald Trump was inaugurated as the 47th President of the United States in a ceremony held inside the U.S. Capitol’s Rotunda in Washington, D.C.
In attendance were President Joe Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris, along with members of the National Congressional Committee.
Thunderous “USA!” chants by those at the rotunda welcomed Trump before he took the oath to office. Notably, some of the biggest names in US politics are in the front row for the oath to office.
Some of those with front-row seats in the ceremony included all the living former Presidents of the United States, along with tech moguls like Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Tucker Carlson, and Jeff Bezos. American country singer Carrie Underwood performed “America the Beautiful”.

Donald Trump’s inauguration occurred indoors due to the cold temperatures in Washington, D.C. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts administered the oath. Vice President JD Vance was sworn in while surrounded by his family.
President Trump took the oath of office, flanked by his children and First Lady Melania Trump, immediately after Vice President Vance completed his oath.
“I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States,” said President Trump during the first act of his inauguration.

President Trump delivers his first address at his Inauguration as Commander-in-Chief.
“The golden age of America begins now”, said President Trump in his first lines as new commander-in-chief. The President has vowed to simply “put America first”, and reclaim the United States’ sovereignty.
President Trump stated that his administration’s momentum will “annihilate” the great challenges it faces with his administration’s momentum. “From this moment on, America’s decline is over”, said the new Commander in Chief. The President has also claimed that he believes his life was “saved by god to make America great again.”
In his address, President Trump announced his first executive order would be to declare a national emergency in the United States’s southern border, by implementing his “stay in Mexico policy“, and sending troops to the border.

The President has declared drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. Trump has also vowed to end the “Green New Deal”, by restoring the American auto industry, as well as making America a “rich nation again”.
Trump has also announced he signed an executive order to stop any censorship and bring back free speech in America, saying under his leadership, he will restore fair and equal rule of justice, under the rule of law.

President Trump has once again referred to the Panama Canal, saying “We gave the Panama Canal to Panama, not China, and we are taking it back.” Immediately after this, Trump spoke about the possibility of sending American astronauts to Mars.
The President proclaimed, “In America, the impossible is what we do best” honoring the resilient spirit that built the country. “We stand on the verge of the four greatest years in American history”, said the President, adding “We are going to win like never before.”

In his final remarks, the President expressed gratitude to all the guests at President Trump’s inauguration, and then Carrie Underwood took the stage to perform an acapella version of “America the Beautiful.”
