January is National Book Month, so why not find a couple of great books and celebrate the month lost in something fabulous?
Some old titles in the new year to consider could be:
- “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Yes, if you had to read this book in high school, read it again as an adult. You’ll love it.
- “The Greatest Generation,” by Tom Brokaw.
- “The Glass Castle,” by Jeanette Walls.
- “Fahrenheit 451,” by Ray Bradbury.
- “Catch-22,” by Joseph Heller.
- “Memoirs of a Geisha,” by Arthur Golden.
- “Yes Please,” by Amy Poehler.
January is also the start of much colder weather. Please call your local branch or check out our Facebook page before coming to the library. We may be closed due to inclement weather. We want all our patrons and staff to be safe and warm out there!
Book Club is at the Houston branch every month. The next one is Saturday, Feb. 8. All book club dates for 2025 are listed on the library website and we welcome you to join us!
Come check out these new arrivals:
- NON-FICTION BIOGRAPHIES: “The Garner Files” a memoir of James Garner by Jon Winokur; “You Never Know” a memoir of Tom Selleck by Ellis Henican; “The Extrodinary Life of an Ordinary Man” a memoir of Paul Newman; and “Cher 2025” a memoir by Serena Ellery.
- FICTION: “The Briar Club” by Kate Quinn; “Crown of Midnight” by Sarah J. Maas; and “What the River Knows” by Isabel Ibanez.
- Friends of the Library needs Friends! Ask how you can become a part of your local Texas County Library Branch’s Friends Group. Friends of the Library strengthens libraries’ presence in communities and helps them thrive through fundraising, volunteering, advocating and so much more.
