Asif Ali and Aparna Balamurali, the popular Malayalam actors who were recently seen together in Kishkindha Kaandam, are set to share the screen again. The popular star pair is reuniting for Mirage, the upcoming thriller directed by hitmaker Jeethu Joseph. Asif Ali, the leading man, however, gave the event a miss due to his busy schedule. Mirage will be extensively shot at the various locations of Calicut, Moolamattam, Coimbatore, and Pollachi. The celebrated filmmaker and his team are planning to wrap up the filming by mid-2025. The first look of the much-awaited project is expected to be out in a few weeks.The cast and crew members of Mirage took to their official social media handles and announced the project with a promising motion poster earlier this year. “Excited to reunite with Jeethu Joseph after Kooman for a brand-new cinematic journey! Can’t wait to share this with you all! Stay tuned for more,” wrote leading man Asif Ali, as he announced the reunion with Jeethu Joseph. Hamlyn secures unprocessed air fryer book from nutrition expert Jenny Tschiesche

Hamlyn has secured The Unprocessed Air Fryer: 101 Healthy, Family Recipes Free From Ultra-Processed Foods by presenter, nutrition expert and author Jenny Tschiesche, who is the resident nutritionist in a new Channel 5 series, The Air Fryer Diet.
Publisher Kate Fox acquired world all-language rights from Jane Graham Maw at Graham Maw Christie. The book will be published on 8th May 2025 in hardback and e-book.
The synopsis states: “With over 100 foolproof, family-friendly recipes, The Unprocessed Air Fryer shows how to make everything from fakeaways to fries, Sunday roasts to sweet treats, all in the air fryer with minimum fuss – and no UPFs. Packed with store cupboard hacks and clever swaps, qualified nutritionist Jenny Tschiesche shows how the air fryer makes cooking from scratch even quicker and easier.”

Michigan legislators authorize new selective business subsidies

Lawmakers authorized new business subsidies in December by creating an Innovation Fund to give money to select early-stage businesses. The law finances the program by redirecting $60 million away from the state’s General Fund and toward select recipients.
Michigan has a long record of spending money on new companies. Sometimes the state would use taxpayer cash to purchase a stake in a company. The latest effort, the Innovation Fund, does not ask the favored companies for a financial return. They simply receive grants.
The state’s record of turning taxpayer support into economic growth is not stellar. The state reports just 60 jobs from a 2006 attempt to boost new companies, for instance. Officials spent over $150 million spent on the program.
In other words, the state has some experience handing out money to start-ups, but it doesn’t appear it has used that experience to ensure it won’t waste taxpayer dollars this time around.
The $60 million pushes the total business subsidies passed last session to $4.7 billion. That’s well above the $1.1 billion authorized by the previous legislature and the most since the 2007-08 legislature.
Selective business subsidies are ineffective at creating jobs, unfair to other businesses and to taxpayers, and expensive to the state budget. Check out how Michigan senators and representatives have voted for or against subsidies at the business subsidy scorecard.

Peter Forguson’s second book, ‘Contemporary Michigan,’ celebrates state’s architectural heritage

(Photo courtesy of James Haefner)Forguson, a landscape designer based in metropolitan Detroit, has dedicated his career to documenting the state’s modern architectural treasures.“Residents of Detroit, and indeed the entire state of Michigan, have been living with some of the finest work by such Modern masters as Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, and Eliel Saarinen since the dawn of the 20th century,” he said.His fascination with these homes led to “Detroit Modern,” which sold out within nine months. Encouraged by its success, Forguson expanded his focus to include residences across the lower peninsula.The journey to compile “Contemporary Michigan” was extensive. Forguson scoured archives, consulted scholars and even explored Michigan’s coastlines and university towns in search of architectural marvels. The book features over 100 homes, including the Alden B. Dow Home & Studio in Midland, Frank Lloyd Wright’s visionary Broadacre Community homes, and a lakeside vacation retreat commissioned by the Briggs family.The Alden B. Forguson’s attention to detail is supported by photographer Jason Grube and graphic designer Marla Meltzer, who helped bring the book to life despite challenges such as coordinating shoots across hundreds of miles.Why Michigan?Forguson is adamant that Michigan is an architectural powerhouse.“What outsiders have yet to discover is that Michigan’s contributions to the modern aesthetic are unparalleled,” he said. “Institutions like Cranbrook, the University of Michigan and Lawrence Tech have fostered world-renowned architects and designers, from Eliel and Eero Saarinen to Charles and Ray Eames”.Peter ForgusonForguson emphasizes that Michigan’s heritage extends beyond architecture, encompassing industrial design, decorative arts and even boat building.“In this book, you will see houses situated in a host of different settings, such as: located in a long-standing densely populated neighborhood of revival-style houses, growing from a hillside overlooking a stream in the suburbs, nestled into a postwar subdivision in a university town, or projecting from a bluff suspended high above Lake Michigan,” Forguson said. “All of these scenarios have come to life thanks to the vision of intrepid clients and architects who collaborated to challenge traditionalists and create unique masterpieces of modern domestic design.”The book is dedicated to Don Paul Young, a Frank Lloyd Wright disciple and prolific Michigan architect who died in 2024 at 97.
