Sedona News – The Sedona International Film Festival is proud to present the Northern Arizona premiere of “The Room Next Door”, showing Jan. 31-Feb. 5 at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres.
“The Room Next Door” — award-winning filmmaker Pedro Almodóvar’s first feature film in English — features a stellar ensemble cast led by Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore and includes John Turturro and Alessandro Nivola. Swinton was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in this film.
Ingrid (Julianne Moore) and Martha (Tilda Swinton) were close friends in their youth, when they worked together at the same magazine. Ingrid went on to become an autofiction novelist while Martha became a war reporter. Eventually, they were separated by the circumstances of life. After years of being out of touch, they meet again in an extreme but strangely sweet situation.
“Tilda Swinton and Julianne Moore take the weight of the whole film on their shoulders, and they are a spectacle,” said writer/director Pedro Almodóvar. “I have been fortunate in that both give a veritable recital. At times during shooting, both the crew and I were on the verge of tears watching them. It was a very moving shoot and, in some way, blessed.”
“The Room Next Door” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher and Alice Gill-Sheldon Theatres Jan. 31-Feb. 5. Showtimes will be Friday, Jan. 31 at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 1 at 6:30 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m.; and Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 3, 4 and 5 at 4:00 p.m.
