A new book is flying off the shelf at a local bookstore in Perrysburg the day after its release.
PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Perrysburg bookstore Gathering Volumes is buzzing with excitement following the release of the newest book in the Empyrean series: “Onyx Storm.”
“Onyx Storm” hit the shelves Tuesday and quickly sold out, with nearly 50 deluxe versions and a dozen standard copies flying off the shelves.
The Empyrean series, written by Rebecca Yarros, follows the journey of a young woman who attends a war college to become a dragon rider. Despite facing a medical condition, she learns to overcome her challenges to achieve her dreams.
Onyx Storm has been met with plenty of excitement. The first book in the high-fantasy romance series, “Fourth Wing,” took the number one spot on the New York Times Bestseller list.
Denise Phillips, the owner of Gathering Volumes, shared her thoughts on the growing popularity of the romance and fantasy genres. She also said she was glad readers were coming to brick-and-mortar bookstores like Gathering Volumes to make their book purchases.
“We always appreciate when customers support us and want to keep a bookstore and the culture of a bookstore in the community,” Phillips said.
While there’s no word yet on when Gathering Volumes will restock “Onyx Storm,” the store has already placed an order with the publisher.
