Selena Quintanilla officially has her own Little Golden Book biography. On January 21, the new Selena: A Little Golden Book Biography went on sale, immortalizing the Tex-Mex icon’s impact from music to beauty in a new way.
The new book is described as a “heartwarming tribute” to Quintanilla that “chronicles Selena’s incredible journey to superstardom, illustrating why her impact on music, fashion, and beauty continues to resonate even decades after her passing.” It was written by Maria Correa, and illustrated by Paula Zamudio. A Spanish version of the book Mi Little Golden Book Sobre Selena, will be available on February 4. The book is for children ages 4 to 8.
The book’s cover features an animated version of Quintanilla, with her iconic red lipstick, bangs, and hoop earrings. She is illustrated in her signature burgundy two-piece that she wore at the famous Houston Astrodome Show in 1995.
It’s bound to be a year of tributes for the Queen of Tejano music. The release of the book aligns with the 30th death anniversary of Selena Quintanilla. Other heartfelt tributes include a new documentary with never-before-seen footage that will premiere at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. The upcoming Selena y Los Dinos documentary is directed by Mexican-American filmmaker Isabel Castro and includes interviews with people close to the icon.
Correa is a children’s book author, editor, and translator. She is currently based in New York City but is originally from Medellín, Colombia. She’s also written a Little Golden Book about Rita Moreno and Bob Ross.
