As we’re just days away from the largest independent film festival in the U.S., we’re breaking down everything you need to know about the 2025 Sundance Film Festival.
This year the annual film festival is full of bold independent storytelling and includes 86 feature-length films representing 33 countries and territories. The event is held at the U.S. Sundance Resort in Park City, Utah. The event spans a total of 11 days, kicking off on Jan. 23 and through Feb. 2. with screenings starting early in the morning and finish at midnight. After all the festivities wrap up, this years’ award-winners will be announced on Jan. 31.

Audiences can expect a 2025 program that showcases varied and vibrant filmmaking globally.”

There are a total of 86 films featured at this years’ Sundance Film Festival. Of this the fascinating films included, some of the higher-profile movies are Bill Condon’s Kiss of the Spider-Woman, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson’s documentary SLY LIVES!, Andrew Ahn’s The Wedding Banquet, Bowen Yang and Kelly Marie Tran’s Atropia, Alia Shawkat’s Pee-wee as Himself, Andrew Jarecki and Charlotte Kaufman’s documentary The Alabama Solution, among many others. The 2025 Sundance Film Festival will have categories for dramatic and documentary features, short films, and episodic content. Some of this years’ competitive categories include U.S. dramatic, U.S. documentary, World cinema dramatic, World cinema documentary, Short film program, and the Alfred P. Sloan feature film prize. In addition to screenings, there will also be filmmaker conversations, panel discussions, and other live events.
There are also many famous faces expected to attend this years’ film festival including Jennifer Lopez, Benedict Cumberbatch, Diego Luna, Conan O’Brien, Alison Brie, Dave Franco, Ayo Edebiri, Olivia Colman, André Holland, Steven Yeun, Mark Ruffalo, Bowen Yang, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton, Lily Gladstone, Dev Patel, Emily Watson, John Lithgow, Marlee Matlin, John Malkovich, Rose Byrne, Chloë Sevigny, Josh O’Connor, Ben Whishaw, Dylan O’Brien, Lili Reinhart and Willem Dafoe.

For those who have yet to snag a ticket for the festival, passes are still available on the Sundance Film Festival website. Ticket prices range from $35 for a single film ticket and go up to $4,200.
Some of the in-person packages offered this year include the Single Film Ticket: In Person ($35), Express Pass Second Half: In Person ($4,200), Festival Package: In Person ($900), Ignite Package Presented by Adobe ($275), Festival Package Second Half: In Person ($350), Locals Ticket Package: In Person ($675), Salt Lake City Pass: In Person ($600), and Salt Lake City Young Adult Pass: In Person ($300).
There are also many online tickets available as the festival has fully embraced an online component for many of their films following the COVID-19 pandemic. For online tickets, prices range from $35 to $800.
