Chaos erupted on BBC’s Bargain Hunt after a contestant had to bow out due to suffering a back injury.
Fans of the antiques challenge were in for a dramatic twist as Eric Knowles returned with new hopefuls, each eager to snatch victory by snagging bargains and selling them for a profit at auction.
On Thurday’s episode (January 23), set in the bustling environment of Detling, Kent, experts Catherine Southon and Mark Stacey were on hand to guide their respective teams through the hunt.
Battling it out, mother-daughter combo Rhian and Keren for the reds faced off against the blue team’s Jay and Billie, both duos brimming with enthusiasm.

The competition kicked off smoothly with both sides swiftly combing through Detling’s car boot treasures. However, the red team’s strong start soon experienced a heartbreaking hiccup, reports the Express.
Keren, initially the picture of health during the show’s first half, shockingly had to drop out towards its conclusion.
After snapping up their three chosen items for auction, it transpired that a sudden bout of ill health prevented Keren from seeing if their picks would haul in profits.

Eric remarked sympathetically: “Well Rhian, I can see you’re flying solo today, no Keren.”
With a heavy heart, Rhian responded: “Yes, yes I am, unfortunately. She’s hurt her back but she’s really really devastated not to make it here tonight. But she’s here with me in spirit.”
In an attempt to keep spirits high, Eric stated: “But you got the great support right next to you in your expert, in our Catherine. Well as you can see Rhian, we’re not in the auction room but you have a live feed,” while gesturing towards the screen in front of them.

It remains uncertain whether Keren sustained her back injury during filming, however, despite her absence, Rhian still managed to represent her team effectively.
Adding to the good news for the mother-daughter duo, later in the show, Eric announced that their three items at auction had secured them a victory and a profit of £62.
Overjoyed with the outcome, Eric instructed Rhian to pass on his best wishes to her mother, assuring her that she would be thrilled with the results.
