Brownell CEO Troy Haas has joined World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) as a member, bringing his expertise in global luxury travel.
Founded in 1887, Brownell is North America’s oldest travel agency. What started as a “bold venture” with 10 intrepid travelers aboard the SS Devonia to Switzerland, has grown into a prestigious global travel agency. Under the leadership of Haas, who joined Brownell in 1993 and risen to become chairman and CEO, the agency and its advisors have shattered milestones. Brownell achieved $200 million in sales in 2023.
Before joining Brownell, Haas earned his MBA from Harvard Business School. He spent several years at consulting firm Bain & Company where he worked in the travel and leisure industry and dreamed of the potential for an agency with a strong advisor community. Haas then returned to Birmingham, Alabama, to become an owner of the then 100-year-old Brownell. Eager to transition to lead in role that better aligned with his personality, passion for travel, and strengths in strategy, big-picture thinking, and networking, Haas has enjoyed a 31-year run fulfilling his vision.
Said Haas: “Joining WTTC is an incredible opportunity to collaborate with leaders who share my vision for a thriving and sustainable future for travel and tourism. Together, we can inspire travelers and elevate the industry to new heights.”
