Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse, the Malayalam film starring actor Mammootty in the lead role, which released in theatres on Thursday, has managed to collect Rs 1.50 crore on its first day of release. The film, which had set expectations for its collaboration between the Malayalam superstar and Tamil filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon, failed to capitalise and opened to mixed reviews upon its release.

The film hit theatres on Thursday (January 23), and has managed to collect Rs 1.5 crore on its first day. There are chances for the film to pick up during the weekend, but with the film receiving middling reviews, Dominic and the Ladies Purse may not after all become a blockbuster that Malayalam cinema had witnessed in 2024.
Dominic and the Ladies’ Purse witnessed an overall 26.75% occupancy in Malayalam on its first day. Produced by Mammootty Kampany, the film’s story is penned by Neeraj Rajan. Apart from Mammootty, the film also stars Gokul Suresh, Lena, Vineeth, Siddique, Shine Tom Chacko, and others.
The film revolves around a former cop who turns into a sleuth and runs a detective agency. He takes the responsibility of finding the owner of a purse, but there is more as the case soon turns into an investigation of two missing people.
