A ‘90s and 2000s movie star is celebrating more than 25 years of “American Pie” in Syracuse.
The Thomas Nicholas Band will headline “American Pie” Emo Night on Saturday, March 22, at the Westcott Theater. The show begins at 8 p.m. and will feature a performance by the emo/alternative rock band, a DJ set by bandleader Thomas Ian Nicholas, and a showing of his 1999 film, “American Pie.”
Tickets are on sale for $31.56 at thewestcotttheater.com. VIP meet-and-greet tickets are also available for $62.81.
Nicholas is best known for his work as an actor, starring in films like “Rookie of the Year” (as Henry Rowengartner), “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court” (with Daniel Craig), and the “American Pie” franchise (as Kevin Myers). His credits also include “Party of Five,” “Halloween: Resurrection,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “The Chicago 8,” “The Rules of Attraction,” “Who’s the Boss?” and “Married… with Children.”
As the leader for the Thomas Nicholas Band, he’s performed more than 1,000 concerts and released multiple albums featuring collaborations with Bowling for Soup, Less Than Jake, Blues Traveler and The Early November. His songs include “My Generation” (featured on the “American Reunion” soundtrack), “Stifler’s Mom” and “1999,” a parody of Bowling for Soup’s “1985″ about the characters in “American Pie.”
“American Pie,” which has no connection to the Don McLean song of the same name, is a popular series of films that originally centered on a group of teens who pledged to lose their virginity on prom night. It spawned multiple sequels and spinoffs, with a cast that included Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Eugene Levy, Tara Reid, Chris Klein, Jennifer Coolidge, Natasha Lyonne, Mena Suvari, and Shannon Elizabeth. The soundtracks also included popular artists of the era like 3 Doors Down, Third Eye Blind, Blink-182, Sugar Ray, Sum 41, Alien Ant Farm, All-American Rejects, Good Charlotte and Green Day.
