KUCHING (Jan 24): The business community needs to keep abreast with the latest technologies to not fall behind, said Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) president Dato Sri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg.
He said with the launch of the Keteksaja foreign workers mobile recruitment app today, it can help employers streamline the recruitment of foreign workers in the state so the process can be time and cost effective.
“The Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg always stresses the importance of technology.
“The only problem with technology is that it changes very fast — which is why we need to keep abreast with all these developments or we will be left behind,” he said when speaking at the app’s launching ceremony at the Sarawak Club here today.
Noting the business community experiences its own set of challenges, he called on those in the community work closely together and come up with new technologies and ideas to improve their works.
Commenting further on the app, Abang Abdul Karim said the word ‘ketek’ (click) shows how instantaneously it can work in real time.
The Keteksaja app, developed in collaboration between the Sarawak Information System (Sains) and SBF Foreign Worker Liaison Task Force, aims to modernise the foreign worker recruitment process.
It provides a free platform for employers and job candidates to streamline the hiring process and reduce costs.
The SBF Foreign Worker Liaison Task Force works closely with stakeholders to ensure the system meets industry demands while addressing past challenges.
Among those present were Deputy State Secretary (Administration) Datu Buckland Bangik, SBF Foreign Worker Liaison Task Force chairman Augustine Chin and Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association president Augustine Wong.
