SINGAPORE – A new Singapore-US subsea cable network could attract more cloud operators and technology companies to set up operations in the Republic, although challenges such as limited land space can be expected, analysts said.
Global asset manager and operator Keppel announced on Jan 24 that it has obtained a licence from the United States Federal Communications Commission to land the world’s first subsea cable system directly connecting Singapore to the west coast of the US via Indonesia, passing through the Java and Celebes seas.
