The 2022 and 2023 McKnight Book Artist Fellowship Exhibition opens on January 21 at the Minnesota Center for Book Arts.
The MCBA partners with the McKnight Foundation every year to offer two fellowships to beyond-emerging artists living and working in Minnesota who show sustained experience in the book arts. These recipients are awarded an unrestricted $25,000 stipend, two years of MCBA studio access, and studio visits from a national critic/curator.
The exhibition will be on view in MCBA’s Main Gallery through March 30 and will focus on the work of four McKnight Book Artist Fellows, 2022 Fellows CB Sherlock and Corinne Teed, and 2023 Fellows Brien Beidler and Todd Thyberg.
CB Sherlock is a book artist and printmaker whose work originates in themes of nature, community, belonging, and identity which is achieved through combining lettered images, nature, and unique book structures. Corinne Teed is a research-based artist working in printmaking, book arts, time-based media, and social practice.
Brien Beidler operates within a small niche, making bespoke leather books for book lovers and specialized tools for book makers and other craftspeople. Todd Thyberg has loved books since childhood and were an escape for him from small town life and a creative inspiration.
