A base jumper fell 650 feet to his death after his parachute didn’t fully open in Washington, police said.
The incident happened at about 8:40 a.m. March 30 near Milepost 202 on U.S. Route 97 Alternate, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
Elliot Barstow, 47, had jumped from a cliff when there was an issue with his parachute, deputies said.
When the parachute didn’t open, it caused the Entiat man to spin 180 degrees midair and strike a rock wall, deputies said.
