Heavy rain led to flooded streets in Pensacola as the city received about 6 inches of rainfall on Sunday.
Flash flood warnings were in place until 8:30 p.m. CDT for Pensacola, Brent and West Pensacola.
Social media captured intense scenes near Pensacola State College, Langley Avenue and Palafox Street. The severe weather stalled drivers and inundated cars, a Dillards department store was flooded and Pensacola Regional Airport cancelled all flights that day.

Recently, Escambia County conducted a study assessing the flood risk across the county to prevent such occurrences in vulnerable areas. The study found that about 85% of the county “is high and dry and not at risk for flooding.”
However, the “most vulnerable” spots in the county included the Pensacola Beach Fire Station, Pleasant Grove Elementary and Jones Swamp Wetland and Preserve, Galvez Landing off Innerarity Point Road and Civitan Park in Warrington.
Turning the tide: Escambia assesses flooding risk county wide. Where the weak spots are.
