Akhanda 2: Producer Suresh Babu BREAKS silence on rising financial issues after Nandamuri Balakrishn…
On Thursday evening, the production house cancelled the premieres just mere hours before the early shows, revealing that Akhanda 2 had been pushed forward owing to unavoidable circumstances.
Boyapati Srinu’s film Akhanda 2, produced by 14 Reels Plus and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead role, was scheduled for release on December 5. However, just hours before its release, it was postponed. The reason was a court case filed by Eros International Media Limited. It was reported that some outstanding payments related to the film were due, leading Eros to seek an injunction from the court. This sudden decision surprised not only the audience but also the film’s team.
What did Akhanda 2 producer Suresh Babu say?
Producer Suresh Babu, while promoting his upcoming film Saik Siddharth, spoke to the media and supported the producers of Akhanda 2. When asked if the film team was facing a financial crisis, he initially tried to deflect the question. He said that he had already spoken to the team and tried to help them resolve the issue. But when directly questioned about the Eros dispute, he clearly stated that such financial matters should not be discussed publicly. In his words, “Those are all financial matters. They should not be discussed in the open. Unfortunately, the business part is going too much to the street. Everyone is pitching in to say, apparently, this is the issue; this much money. Why does it need to be discussed?”
Suresh Babu further added that nowadays, business-related matters of the film industry are unnecessarily coming out in the open and people are discussing them on the streets. He said that issues related to money, payments, and liabilities are common in every film; it’s nothing new. He questioned, “The audience just needs to watch a film. Why are we giving those details? Everyone has these financial issues; they’re nothing new. If you plan it earlier, it’s usually sorted.”
Why was Akhanda 2 postponed?
According to reports, 14 Reels Entertainment reportedly owes approximately Rs 28 crore plus interest. Upon non-payment, Eros International approached the Madras High Court and sought to halt the film’s release. The court ordered that the film could not be released until the matter was settled. Following this, the production house announced on Thursday evening, along with canceling the premieres, that Akhanda 2 had been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. This decision disappointed fans, but now everyone is waiting for the next release date.
