TULSA, Okla. — A movie shot here in Green Country premiered in south Tulsa at the Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.
Forgotten Fortune is about a retired mailman struggling with dementia who witnesses a murder, leading him to unravel a mystery surrounding his friend’s death and a fortune he made years ago. The film is directed by Stevie Fernandez.
At Friday’s screening, actor Lou Ferrigno discussed what it was like to film a movie in the Tulsa metro.
“We had a great crew here and I’ve always wanted to film here in Tulsa,” said Ferrigno. “I know they are filming Tulsa King with Stallone, but I filmed all over the world, different parts of the world, and I enjoy filming here because it’s a great town and I had a great time.”
Brian Shoop, an actor from Tulsa who plays Brian Franks in the movie, talked about the disease that is effecting his character and how it touches so many people, including himself.
“This film is about the deal that so many of us have to work with, and that’s Alzheimer’s, said Shoop. “I lost my mom to Alzheimer’s. Everybody’s been touched by Alzheimer’s. And this is a story about a group of friends who are starting to deal with that.”
Shoop also said that with subject matter, there is a deeper meaning to it all.
“It’s meaningful for a lot of reasons. It’s meaningful because these three friends have a longstanding friendship. They’ve outlived their wives and they’re just buddies and they hand together; do life together. That’s very sweet and key to the whole story.”
Shoop said dealing with Alzheimer’s in real life is that it gave him compassion for the characters and the way they interact. She said the toughest part is losing touch with reality.
“You think about lonliness, being afraid that are apart of that and as you progress into it little by little, you see that coming and you begin to get fearful and in this movie, Brian is sort of just beginning to show signs.”
Forgotten Fortune was filmed in locations in both Tulsa and Sapulpa.
