SEREMBAN, Jan 2 (Bernama) — Most tourist locations in Negeri Sembilan continue to be packed with visitors, particularly during the school holidays that began in mid-December, as well as in conjunction with Visit Negeri Sembilan Year (TMNS) 2026.
A survey by Bernama at a snow theme park in Seremban and major beaches in Port Dickson found these locations to be focal points for families taking the opportunity to bring their children while celebrating the launch of TMNS.
Visitor Saadatul Akmar Mohamad Saad, 43, from Ampang, Selangor, said she and 10 family members had planned to visit Seremban a month ago specifically to play in the “snow” at the theme park.
“We spent the whole day at this theme park, which is said to be the largest in Malaysia, because we were attracted to the cold atmosphere that feels like being overseas. Going abroad to play in the snow is difficult, but here we can play to our heart’s content,” the mother of three told Bernama.
Private sector employee Mohammad Azlan Rahman, 47, who travelled with five family members from Johor Bahru, said they were on a three-day, two-night holiday in Negeri Sembilan and visited attractions in the district as well as Kuala Pilah.
“My friends said that if you go to Negeri Sembilan without enjoying masak lemak salai (smoked meat in turmeric gravy), it’s a waste. Even though it was a bit of a distance, we were satisfied to be able to eat traditional Negeri Sembilan cuisine.
“Besides that, we also had the chance to experience the village atmosphere in Kuala Pilah and visit the Seri Menanti Palace museum,” he said, adding that he obtained information about the state’s tourism through social media.
A visitor from Melaka, Salwani Osman, 35, said she and two friends chose Teluk Kemang for a short two-day, one-night getaway. “We’ve planned for a long time to come to Teluk Kemang for a picnic and a swim. The last time we were here was two years ago; now it’s cleaner, tidier, and more beautiful,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) Negeri Sembilan, Haziz Hassan, stated that hotel room booking records in Negeri Sembilan, especially in Port Dickson, increased by 80 to 90 percent during the school holidays.
He noted that based on data obtained, most four and five-star hotels around Port Dickson have been fully booked since last December until early this month.
“The most significant increase was during the Christmas holidays and New Year’s Eve celebrations; you could say almost all hotels were full.
“We hope this momentum continues as TMNS has officially begun. We will continue to provide support, including offering special discounts for all early hotel room bookings,” he said.
State Tourism, Culture, and Arts Committee Chairman Nicole Tan was earlier reported as saying that over 25 million tourists are targeted to visit Negeri Sembilan this year, with more than 250 tourism products offered to visitors, including health tourism.
