Think about your favorite movie for a second. Why is that movie your favorite? Is it a series? A stand-alone?
We all have our reasons for loving our favorite movies. For some, it’s the visuals, the actors/actresses in the film, and even the people behind-the-scenes like film directors or film studios – A24, I’m looking at you.
Best Movie Ever Filmed In Montana
I don’t know about you, but my absolute favorite film genre is horror. I don’t know if that makes me a sick puppy or what, but I just love it. One of my favorite films in the genre is an absolute classic: The Shining.
Based on the Stephen King novel, the film has seen an increase in popularity with the recent release of the streaming series It – Welcome to Derry, also based on a Stephen King novel (It) and characters.

One of the main characters, Dick Halloran from It – Welcome to Derry, is also prominently featured in The Shining. He’s the character who has “The Shine” and can communicate with this ability to a young boy named Danny Torrance in The Shining.
But I digress.
If you’re still with me, what I’m getting at is one of my favorite movies of all time in The Shining was filmed right here in Montana. For me, that’s mind-blowing: arguably one of the most iconic horror films of all time, filmed right here where we live.
And it doesn’t stop there.
