Filming for This City Is Ours has once again taken over Liverpool. James Nelson-Joyce and Laura Aikman were spotted on Wood Street in the city centre on Thursday, February 12 as filming gets underway for the second series of the popular BBC show.
The actors were photographed talking between takes as they walked along the street, while members of the film crew appeared to shield the actors from the rain with an umbrella.
This City Is Ours follows conflicted gangster Michael Kavanagh as he juggles falling in love for the first time with taking over the Phelan crime family. The first season was a smash hit success when it arrived on BBC One and iPlayer last March as it was a hit with critics and viewers alike.
The BBC renewed the series, from Kirkby writer Stephen Butchard, after the last episode was broadcast in May as the broadcaster’s director of drama, Lindsay Salt, said the story was “just getting started”.
Filming has taken over the city since production got underway for the second season in October. Camera crews were pictured outside The White Hart pub yesterday and the show’s star, James Nelson-Joyce, was pictured filming on Old Hall Street in November.
