Elementary schools in Starkville and Oktibbeha County got the chance to expand their libraries thanks to donations from the Starkville Rotary Club.
Last week, Starkville Rotarian Stan Miller along with various other members visited elementary schools inside Starkville and Oktibbeha County to present them with checks to cover the addition of new books for students.
The first stop was West Oktibbeha Elementary School in Sturgis where students were already eagerly reading the new books purchased through the donation. Librarian Julie McKenzie used the money to purchase more books from the hit kids series “Dog Man” which is highly sought after by students.
“I cannot keep them on the shelves,” said McKenzie, “They check me out every week and they are always wanting to reserve them for when they come back. So I went with what they wanted and that’s by far my most requested.”
