LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – Students at SOWELA are turning creativity into something meaningful for the community!
Digital Arts students at SOWELA have created a children’s book called “A Cat’s Tail” as part of a hands-on class project. We spoke with Christian Ramierez and Darrell Buck to get the details.
The Book Launch Party for “A Cat’s Tail” will be at the Southwest Louisiana Children’s Museum on 1011 N. Lakeshore Drive in Lake Charles, on Feb. 21 at 10 a.m.
Books will be available for purchase at the book launch party, and all proceeds will benefit a Digital Arts scholarship.
The book was the brainchild of Christian Ramierez and the Graphics Arts Club at SOWELA. Lake City Printing donated all of the printing for the book once it was completed.
Christian says, “This is a project I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. But I never had that opportunity until I enrolled at SOWELA, where Mr. Buck gave me that opportunity. ‘A Cat’s Tail’ follows Pin, a cat born without a tail, and his journey to find one. But on that journey, he discovers that the part that’s missing is what makes him unique.”
